Big Valley Alberta | Alberta Road Trips
Today we braved the cold weather in Alberta plus a snow storm and headed South to Big Valley Alberta to check out the historic Round house and turn table, workshop, grain elevator and St. Edmunds Church. The Village of Big Valley Alberta is located in the county of Stettler south east of Red Deer. (64 km north of Drumheller) Big Valley was founded in 1907 however people had settled on the land long before then. If you are looking for a neat little place to visit and enjoy small towns and railways this is the place for you. This second...
AllStones Lake - Backcountry PLUZ Alberta
All Stones Lake is located in the Bighorn Backcountry just off the David Thompson Highway (Hwy 11) along Abraham Lake in Alberta, Canada. Park just to the east of the highway in the parking lot beside the lake. We would rate this as a Hard hike due to the steepness and elevation gain. Please go prepared with bear spray, proper footwear, water, map ect. DO YOUR RESEARCH! The parking lot has map of area along with an outhouse and a beautiful view of Abraham Lake. 843 m Elevation to summit in under 5 km Cross the highway and head to...
Siffleur Falls Backcountry | Alberta
The weekend we spent at Siffleur Falls Wilderness area will always hold a special place in our hearts as we were expecting a little baby girl at the end of summer. However I tell you this place will not disappoint, even if you just decide to do the first 4 km to the falls and lookout. However we decided to head past the crowds onto the unbeaten path and seek a place to spend a few nights. Our trip was a total of 15 km and 262 m elevation gain from start to finish. Keep in mind that most of...

Canned Sweet Homestyle Pickled Beets
You can feel the cooler weather upon us as we start to notice the leaves change from green to bright gold, yellow and red. The sun sets early this time of year and you know winter is right around the corner when we get that cool North Wind. This time of year is busy cleaning up the yard for winter and of course the Garden harvest. This summer we enjoyed red lettuce, romaine lettuce, butter lettuce, white potatoes, spinach, squash, fresh raspberries and peas through out the season which left us with beets, cucumbers, peppers, carrots, and dill to pickle....
